Specialised Wildlife Hazard Program Training including:

10618NAT- Course in Firearms Safety (Approved for Licencing in Qld)
This course meets the requirement in Queensland under the Weapons Act1990 that license applicants complete a course approved by the Commissioner of Police in firearms/weapons safety training. It prepares Weapons Act license applicants who may be deemed to be fit and proper persons and with genuine reasons under the Weapons Act 1990 with the knowledge and applied skills to possess and use firearms/weapons lawfully, responsibly and safely so making them eligible to obtain Qld Weapons Act licenses in one or more of the following categories of firearms/weapons based on the genuine needs of the individual. Categories include A/B/C/D/H & M as defined in the Weapons Act. The course also provides necessary firearms/weapons safety training for :
* Queensland Police Service staff, who as part of their duties require the physical possession of firearms/weapons.
* Officers in other government departments (government service entities) who possess and use firearms/weapons as part of their normal duties including seed gathering and animal tagging, euthanizing and culling.
* Queensland residents with a genuine reason for a firearms license application as defined in the Weapons Act.
* Other professional organizations that require access and use of firearms as part of the undertaking of activities as approved in the Weapons Act.

AHCPMG304 - Use Firearms to Humanely Destroy Animals (Supersedes & equivalent to AHCVPT203A - Use of Firearms to humanely destroy animals)
This course covers the process of destroying animals humanely by shooting and defines the standard required to: confirm the details of animals to be shot; prepare and handle ammunition and weapons safely; ensure the shooting area is clear and notifications have been made where necessary; shoot the animal in a body site that causes instant death; handle or dispose of dead animals as required.
Developed in consultation with key industry, government and local agencies Ballistic Training Solutions is pleased to provide the Use Firearms to Humanely Destroy Animals as Australia's leading humane and ethical firearms competency program for the Agricultural and pest management sector.

This program is part of the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package and is suited to the following industry applications:
* Primary Producers
* Research Officers / Wildlife Officers

* Shooters engaging in environmentally sustainable hunting or pest management activities

Requirements / Pre-Requisites:
Strict eligibility criteria is specified on this program per Weapons Act Legislation
· Possess a Current Weapons (Firearms) License from your State/Territory
· Have a thorough understanding of animal control and wildlife welfare responsibilities
· Have a thorough understanding and demonstrated application of Safe responsible firearms ownership
· Have a current Driver’s License
· No previous violations or orders that would preclude participation as an unfit person as specified in the relevant State/Territory Weapons Act and Regulations.
· Be familiar with and demonstrate field application of Risk Management and mitigation strategies

Current Firearms Licence endorsed with both categories and activities being assessed is required. Practical assessment is a key part of the competency assessment.

Course Duration:
1 - 2 Days depending on student & client requirements, worksite workshop delivery linked to worksite operational employment activities supported by Trainer/Assessor visits. Each clients requirements being considered, some homework activity and student time management will be important to ensure we maintain the volume of learning requirements on this qualification.

Assessment is facilitated by undertaken by our expert environmental firearms instructor/s with qualifications, certifications and a background in humane, ethical, environmental animal management.

Award:
On successful completion you will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

AHCPMG311 - Use Firearms for Pest Control Activities from Aircraft
(Supersedes & equivalent to AHCVPT304A - Conduct vertebrate pest activities from aircraft )

Feral Animal Aerial Shooter Training - This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct pest control activities from the air using firearms. This unit applies to individuals who work under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work. They use discretion and judgement in the selection and use of available resources. All work must be carried out to comply with the relevant statutory requirements. Workers operating in this field are required to hold a first aid certificate. Other licensing conditions may also apply to this unit. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory. Firearms licensing conditions apply to this unit. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory agency. Appropriate firearms licences are also required for those involved in training and assessment against this unit. Approval to carry and discharge firearms from aircraft must be gained from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The holder of an Air Operator's Certificate is responsible for gaining this approval and personnel involved must ensure such an approval is issued and comply with any conditions specified in the approval documentation. In addition to legal responsibilities, all units of competency dealing with animals in the AHC Training Package have the requirements for animals to be handled humanely to minimise stress and discomfort.
This program is part of the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package and is suited to the following industry applications:
* Conservation & Wildlife officers
* Certified Aerial Culling Operators
* Endorsed & Certified Professional Aerial Shooters
Pre-requisite entry requirements for this course include:
* Possess a current Australian firearms (Weapons) license as issued by your home state with a minimum category of B (D preferred for occupation clients)
* Successful completion and award of a Statement of Attainment in the use of firearms to humanely destroy animals.
* Successful completion and award of a statement of attainment in Firearms Safety Covering Categories C & D Weapons within the last 6 months
Requirements / Pre-Requisites:

· Possess a Current Drivers License & Weapons (Firearms) License from your State/Territory
· Have a thorough understanding of animal control and wildlife welfare responsibilities

· Have 2 years field professional shooting experience as referenced from previous employment/contract testimonials
· No previous violations or orders that would preclude participation as an unfit person as specified in the relevant State/Territory Weapons Act and Regulations.
· Have a current ARN with CASA
· Have an SOA in AHCPMG304 – Use firearms to humanely destroy animals
· Be familiar with and demonstrate field application of Risk Management and mitigation strategies and have a thorough understanding of the aviation safety and security requirements relating to this area of work
